My friend Lloyd turns 70 this month. He does so many generous acts for so many others –from helping free slaves, to supporting orphans to helping all his friends. Let’s show Lloyd how he has inspired us. Do acts of unselfish good in Lloyd’s name!
Tuesday it snowed 13 inches in my area. Around 5pm I realized my husband would be getting off the train after a VERY long day and commute to a buried car. I went to the train station and uncovered his car. While there I figured I might as well do a few more. So I cleaned about 5 more. Not sure if it helped because it kept on snowing. But made me feel good.
This one is not about me but I’m posting anyway… My best friend has a cleaner called Lily who works at his office who has the saddest life. Last year both her young daughters were raped, beaten and left for dead. My friend took every cent he was going to spend on Christmas, food, gifts for friends and family etc and gave it all to her family so that her kids could at least have a decent Christmas.
Lloyd and his knock-out wife Peggy taught me about paying it forward and i carry their lesson in my heart every day. My brilliant and humble handyman saved up all his cash for years to buy his first pickup truck. Turns out he bought a bit of a lemon. So I paid for all the repairs on it so that he can expand his business and support his beautiful family. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help such a great person. Makes me feel awesome!!!!
I let a guy go in front of me in TSA line who was really stressed out running late for his flight. (He did actually end up begin on my same flight… so that was kind of funny but at least all of us in line got a hit of serotonin knowing we helped him out and hoping someone would do the same for us if we were scared of missing our flight …. haha)
My family acted as secret santas for a family in need. Each of us selected a family member and were tasked to do all the shopping for that person. It was really fun to have my entire family involved and to see them get out of themselves and think creatively and generously for someone else. Made me smile. Miss you Lloyd.
My family loves Christmas and drinking coffee(if that sounds like a silly mix). I am coming home for a few days and have brought them K-cups of the Starbucks Christmas blend for them! It’s delicious and filled with the taste of the holidays. I can’t wait for them to enjoy my small gift! I hope it brightens their mornings before work and cheers them up when they return home after a long day.
The lady in front of me in the grocery store checkout line was scrambling to find the rest of the money needed for her groceries. She had coupons but not enough cash….as she was digging through her wallet I slipped the extra money needed to the checker. She played along like a champ and pretended she had miscounted and actually had enough money. It was fun. PS – SHE LOVES THIS SITE BUT CALLS IT ANO-MOE – NOUS GOOD!
