I feel good when other people feel good. And one way I aim to inspire is simply through smiling. This little light of mine. I’m gonna let it shine. I’m challenging everyone to hand out more high-fives and generous, genuine smiles, sharing the light that each of us have inside. When we smile, we increase our life energy, our frequency of light, and literally brighten people’s day. Especially our own. Our smiles are our wings. They lift us up and give us an advantage over our fears, failures and forgetfulnesses. And – the smile is energetically connected to the heart. When we smile, we lift the lid on our heart, keeping it open for The Divine to give Her blessing, heal, and inspire us. Sound magical? It is! I believe this small, courteous, and courageous act can and will transform our world.
I keep a little holder of poop bags on a stick in our front yard..mainly because I’m sick of people not cleaning up after their dogs. The holder ran out of bags and before I could refill it, some anonymous person did it for me. I thought that was pretty awesome (plus I know it must be making a difference if someone cared enough to refill it). I am very grateful to that person.
I went out to my car this morning to find it covered in ice. There were some men standing around, it looked like they were getting ready head off to work in the company truck. One gentlemen was scraping ice off the truck. He came over and asked I would like him to scrape the ice off my car for me. I was very touched. I did not know this man, he was simply being a very nice person. It made my morning
took an after noon to participate in a brain storming meeting with some super bright creative talented people all coming up with ideas to create an event that will inform and inspire a group of kids who are 18 and “aging out” of the foster care system. Most of these kids are handed a bag and a toothbrush and sent on their way to ‘figure it out’ after being tossled around from family to family and from school to school… tough enough to to navigate the adult world with a good foundation and loving parents. I was inspired by such super brain power and the plethora of ideas that came into existence.
My husband and I met a young waitress tonight – she is so inspiring. When we asked how she was she said, ‘Great! I got As on my first two mid-terms in college.’ She dropped out of school in 9th grade – had a baby at 16. Her daughter is a great high school student. Now Mom is going back to school to be a nurse. We offered to pay for her books, parking etc for her next semester because her tuition is already covered. We’re still smiling – inspired by this woman who always believed she could work hard but doubted her academic skills. Now she is choosing to move past her doubts and prove herself to herself…and her daughter.
A few months a go I visited some villages in india with Voices4Freedom to see, first hand, the work that is being done on the ground. Thanks to their support these kids now live in a village that is no longer living in slavery. So much joy and laughter now exudes from these people especially the children. This picture I took when I was teaching a few children how to HI-5.
I was a department store today, in the checkout line, when another customer brought a scared little girl to the cashier. The little girl had misplaced her mom. Now, it’s their job to locate lost moms, yes, but the extra care and compassion the cashier gave to this scared girl was touching, and I made a point of letting her know how good she made me feel watching her go above and beyond to give comfort.
I had a friend wake me up this morning to the fact that I had been holding back feelings from my best friend, for noble reasons, but still, I was holding back. She made me realize that I wasn’t being fair to him, and she did it with such gentleness and compassion that I almost cried. She touched me, and I wanted to share this.
