80 year-old James Drain never went to prom. A Korean War veteran, he’d dropped out of school after eighth grade and wasn’t able to attend.
So when it came time for his granddaughter, Joy Webb (great name!), to find a date for her prom, she asked her grandfather to escort her.
James, for the first time ever, wore a tuxedo and, in a fun twist, rode around town with his granddaughter—dressed in her beautiful blue gown—in a horse-drawn carriage. To no one’s surprise, they were the first ones on the dance floor.
A thoughtful, kind gift of a memorable moment for each of them.
