Ridge Quarles has worked at Qdoba in Louisville for five years and counting. Over those years, he’s gotten to know the regular customers pretty well – he’s gone to a few birthday parties, and was even invited to a wedding – but there’s one customer in particular he goes above and beyond for.
The customer’s identity is unknown at this point, but she is always dropped off by a TARC bus that offers transportation services to people with disabilities. The woman is in a wheelchair, and though she always has to wait for someone to open the door for her, she goes to the restaurant often enough that Ridge knows her order by heart.
For lunch, she has a taco salad with hot sauce and cheese, for dinner, a burrito with hot sauce and cheese.
Ridge recalls a particular day with perfect clarity. “I had helped her through the line and sat her out in the lobby, got her a drink, got her utensils and napkin and kind of started to walk off and I was like, you know, ‘Is there anything else I can help you with?’ and she turned around and she was like, ‘Sir, if you don’t mind could you help me eat?’”
Ridge didn’t hesitate to help.
Another patron was so impressed, they captured the act of kindness on video to share with others. (Click through the link below to view.)
